How much water weight do we carry around with us at any given time? I'm wondering because I've noticed that each week when I step on the scale my weight seems to fluctuate between 1 and 2 pounds and I'm wondering if that's due to gaining and regaining water weight.

I think for most of us on average we carry around 5 pounds of water weight. It fluctuates throughout the week as you lose some of it and gain it back. I would recommend that when you weigh yourself, subtract 5 pounds and work with the number your left with as your body fat weight.

It's definitely due to losing and gaining water weight. That's why the fluctuation is occuring like that. Just make sure you always weight yourself at the same time every day. Preferably first thing in the morning before you eat and in your underwear. This will give you a pretty good idea of what your weight actually is.

It is either due to water weight fluctuation or it could be that you are weighing yourself at different times of the day or wearing different clothing. At the end of the day you are always heavier than you are when you first get up in the morning. Also, clothing and shoes add weight also. For the best read, weigh yourself once per week and do it when you first get up in the morning wearing as little clothes at possible. This is the most accurate reading you will get. If you are actually losing fat, you should see a slow drop in weight.

I think we carry around 5 pounds of water weight on average. I'd also recommend you don't weigh yourself too much. Do it once per week and do it in the morning when you first get up wearing very little clothing. If you record your progress this way you'll have a better idea of how much fat you're actually losing.
