I think there might be something wrong with my scale. The reason why I think that is I always get different results each time I step on it and what the scale in my home tells me compared to the one at the gym is completely different! Which one is right? Is my weight actually fluctuating that much? I weigh myself about twice a week.

Why do I keep getting different results

It sounds to me like your scale may be off balance. I had a digital scale that used to tell me a different weight based on where I placed it in the house. for some reason, it seemed that uneven floor alters the results...no idea why. I would look for a flat surface area and try that. If you get a different number after you step on it a few times in a row, then maybe it's not the floor and your scale is busted and you should invest in another. That said, I would trust the scales at a doctor's office or at gyms. You may also want to try a scale that isn't digital.

I have also made the switch back to dial scales after I had rotten luck with the digital variety. That said, if you do like the digital scale (which is WAY easier to read) I would recommend putting it on a flat surface in a room where the temperature never gets too cold or too hot. Although it seems like a good idea to put a scale in the bathroom, this is actually one of the worst places for it because there is a lot of moisture in bathrooms, especially those where you take showers or baths. Subjecting a digital scale to constant moisture and temperature changes could make it go wonky.
Also, have you checked to make sure the battery isn't dead or dying? Maybe a change in battery is all you need :D

Thanks for your advice everyone. I still can't get my stupid digital scale to work properly. I'm going to get the old fashioned dial kind to see if that's better. It could be that I stored my other scale wrong or something else happened to it...knowing my luck one of my kids probably dropped it!
