  • Should I weigh myself 1 time per week?

    I hear in a lot of places that you shouldn’t weigh yourself too often but that you also shouldn’t wait too long. You need to do it slowly enough that you get accurate results but fast enough that you won’t lose motivation. Is weekly really the best timing?

    1 time per week is the best. It's not too soon but it helps you make a routine out of it.

      It probably differes from one person to the next because you want ot keep on top of how much you weigh but you also need to motivate yourself. I wouldn't weigh yourself any more often than every week, but you could probably do it every 2 weeks or every month as long as you are still motivated.

        I agree that one time per week is the right amount. The reason is that most people do pretty much the same things every week, so if you weigh yourself every Sunday morning, for example, then you will be weighing yourself under pretty much the same conditions every time (just make sure you do it first thing in the morning, before eating, while naked, for the most accurate results.

          Ya I agree. 1 time per week is best. If you do it more than that you risk becoming obsessive about it and if you are not making any progress you might start to feel discouraged, and that's the last thing you'll want to happen!

            I actually weigh myself once every month. I used to weigh myself once a week, but I never felt like I lost enough and found my results depressing. After a month not only do I see better results on a scale, but I can kind of see it and feel it in myself, too.

              I don't think I'd have the will power to weight myself only once a month!

              I really think once a week is completely normal and a good idea :)

                Thanks everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that I have been weighing myself once per week and it seems to be going well. I look forward to stepping on the scale and I always find my results motivating. It's stopped me from being obsessive about weighing myself. :D
