One of my problems with dieting is that I'm an obsessive weight checker. I weigh myself daily, sometimes more than once a day. I know that this is excessive and too much but I don't know how often I should do it so that it still motivates me and I can make sure I'm on track. Is it every few days? A week? Every two weeks? A month (though I doubt I could wait that long)? How often is best and why is it best? Thanks!

I think it's best to do it once a week. Anymore than that and you're being a little obsessive, and, more importantly, you're only likely to hurt your progress because you'll see your weight fluctuate, so you're likely to think that you are gaining and losing a lot, even though ti's just your water weight going up and down. Also, weigh yourself first thing in the morning and weigh yourself only once. Record the number and that way you can track your progress weekly.

You're really not going to start getting accurate readings until the first couple of weeks. So try not to get discouraged when it comes to the scale. Use it as a tool, not as a rule to live by.
