  • Bloated and tired of it!

    I'm so sick of carrying around so much water weight. I'm bloated all the time to the point that I'm seriously considering taking water pills to help get rid of it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can slim down and keep the water from coming back on? Is it really only my diet that causes this?

    I think it is mostly what you eat that causes you to retain water. I mean, I know in some cases it can also be a problem if you are on certain medications or have certain medical conditions. Maybe some people are more prone to holding water weight, too. It's hard to know to be honest. That being said, I think salt is usually the culprit, because the more salt that is in your body, the more your body retains the water. Try a low sodium diet, avoid carbonated beverages, don't overdo-it with fiber that can make your gaseous (like beans) and drink lots of water. See if this makes a difference after a few days.

      I wouldn't take water pills unless they are prescribed to you by your doctor. Work on your diet first, by cutting out stuff that can make you bloaty, as Gina mentioned above. If that still doesn't work, then talk to your doctor about your concerns and see what he/she has to say or recommends. Pills should always be a least resort.

        I agree that it all has to do with what you're putting in your body. Avoid the carbon, the high salts, chewing gum, eating lots of beans, or high-gas foods and drink plenty of water. This should help you with the issue. If after all that you've still got problems, maybe talk to your doctor to see if there is another reason why you're retaining water or are super-gassy.

          Thank you guys for all your advice! I am actually going to work really hard on changing my diet so I stop ingesting foods and beverages that cause gas. I'm hoping that by doing this and upping my water intake that I should slim down a bit. Being bloated all the time is no fun :(
