  • How to beat the slump

How do you beat the slump when you feel like you just can't go one more day without eating a dozen donuts all in one sitting?

I just went through that feeling last week and fortunately got out of it when a friend talked me up again.

    Does anyone have "self-help" tips?

    Yes!

Go ahead and eat the frikken donut. Just one donut. NOT the entire box, not half the box, not two. Just eat the one and be done with it. The worst thing you can do is constantly deny yourself things, because when you reach your breaking point (and you will), you will just go and binge on all the things you have deprived yourself of and ruin weeks of hard work.

Also if you have to slip up for a day, keep it to just one day. You can't do too much damage only in one day. Then just get back on track the next day. Even If you are eating healthy 5 out of 7 days a week, you are winning and your body will thank you. Gradually, your slip up days will become less and less, but they do happen.

If you REALLY want to get rid of your cravings all together, try phentraminD. A lot of people I know swear by it. It's over the counter and it will take away your appetite. You won't even want to look at food.

Good advice, steve_ross. And I mean both the "controlled slips" and the phentramin d.

Nobody's perfect, and one little mistake isn't going to ruin the whole thing. But if you can't limit yourself to one little treat in a day, then a little help is just the ticket.

Have something else, instead. You might not be able to have a dozen donuts, but you can eat something else that you enjoy a lot and that is friendlier to your diet.

Also, think about what it is about the donut you want. is it something sweet? something baked? Then, try to find something that will mimic that form of treat.
