  • Pick a goal review day

Great motivator: pick a day of the month, and really review your goals and WHY you want to reach them. It’ll get you back on track.

That does sound like a good idea, but what exactly is involved in reviewing your goals? Don’t you just want to lose weight? So once a month you remind yourself that you’re trying to lose weight?

I’m really not being sarcastic. What does it involve?

I think that goal reviewing isn't just "I want to lose 15 pounds". It's saying WHY you want to lose it. You want to look better. You want to be healthier. You want to lower blood pressure. You want to reduce the risk of cancer. That sort of thing.

I think that this is a good idea, but if you wait to do it one time every month, you might be waiting too long. The best thing to do is to make a habit of reminding yourself of your goals every single day. Just make sure that you aren’t just reciting them out of habit. Remember what each of those goals are and why you want them. Write them down and read them to yourself, giving each one its due attention, or say them out loud and say it with conviction. You need to use each opportunity to remind yourself of exactly why this is worth all of the effort. If you can’t do it every day, at least do it once per week. Maybe on the day after you weigh yourself, in the morning as you start the day.

            Those are really good points.

I find that it's important not to do the goal review too often. Then you just get immune to it. You need to mean it.

Maybe you can make multiple differnet goals and review different things on different days of the week so that you don't build up a tolerance
