  • You're not on a diet you're changing your life

Diets don't work. If you want to lose weight, it's about changing your life and finding a healthy diet and lifestyle that works for you. Weight loss is simply the perk you experience because of the changes you make. Focus on changing your lifestyle to improve our mental and physical wellbeing because it's how you want to live your life. You cant live for a diet. Eventually, you'll hate it it and stop.

This is exactly the truth Char. The problem is that most of us just can't seem to accept it. The trouble with not feeling like you're on a diet, in my opinion, is that it doesn't quite feel like you're working toward something. I feel I'm far more motivated when I have an end goal. That's the trouble with healthy weight loss and weight management. It's not about reaching a goal and stopping as much as it is about continuing to make healthy choices to shed the pounds and then eventually keep the weight off. It's alllllllways easier said than done.

Yeah, that sorta is the issue isn't it Beth. None of us really wants to change our lifestyles that much, which is why dieting is so hard. The fact is that whether or not you call it a lifestyle change or a diet, you're going to have to make alterations to the way you eat that are just going to suck sometimes.

It's true, but I think it's a lot easier to get used to something when it becomes a new habit and you tell yourself this is a good habit that is here to stick around - a new way of living - compared to going on some crazy diet that you know has to end or that you just get so sick of you give up on it. I feel that when I consciously tell myself that I'm making a lifestyle change for the better, I'm more likely to look at it in a positive way than a diet, which is something I dread. It's all just a matter of perspective, I guess, and what works for you.
