I think that it’s important to focus on the bigger picture. You can look at the pictures you take of yourself to see the difference over time, but don’t just nitpick on the things you’ll just never like about yourself or you’ll never be happy.

That's the danger of taking pictures of yourself in the effort to try to judge weight loss!

That's why pictures should be just a tool and not the only guide. Like your weight on a scale.

That’s actually a very good point. I have also found that the last thing that I want to do is to let one type of news decide whether or not I feel successful in my diet. For example, I may not be losing weight on the scale, but if clothing fits better, I still feel it’s a victory.

I agree that it is very important that you keep a positive attitude and that you stop being hard on yourself about the way that you look if you want to drop the pounds.

Your attitude is one of the most essential parts of your efforts as well as your mental image.

I think that you should use your pictures as motivation by showing you how much you lost but also whether or not you are really done. Just because you said that you think that you should lose 20 pounds doesn't mean that you were right when you get there. Once you lose the weight, you might find that you still need to lose more. Or you might find that you are fine at 15. It's good guidance, the picture.
