I heard about this diet called the flexitarian diet which sounds like its vegetarian based on its name, but I"m wondering if it's a different type of vegetarian diet because it sounds like the name of the diet comes from the merging of the two words "flexible" and "vegetarian". Can there be such think as a flexible vegetarian diet?

No it's not a vegetarian or vegan diet. Although the diet is based mostly on plant foods, it does include the occasional meat product. Essentially, it's the closest thing to vegetarianism for those who are not interested in going full vegetarian. It's probably a diet you should try if becoming a vegetarian/vegan interests you.

The major benefit of following this diet (so the claim goes) is that you can still obtain the benefits of being a vegetarian without having to fully give up meat. You eat more plant-based foods than you will meat, but you don't eliminate all meat so it's not as hard to stick to this diet compared to going fully vegetarian. I recommend that you personally look into to get a better idea of what it's all about.
