I know that if you want to cut down on sugar but you still want the sweet taste, one of the biggest recommendations is to use stevia. That said, is stevia all that good for you? Especially if you consume it regularly?

I don't think it's good for you, but I think it's better to use it more regularly than refined sugar. At least that's how I see it. I mean, it's still a sweetner and while there are some sweetners better than others, I don't think any of them are "good" or "nutritious".

I think Stevia is a fantastic sugar replacement, but I wouldn't go out of my way to use it in the same way that I wouldn't go out of my way to use sugar. Think of it less as something that is nutritious or "good" for you, but as a treat. You don't need refined sugar and you don't need stevia. That said, it is a great zero cal sugar alternative when you are craving something sweet.

Yeah, I wouldn't go out of my way to make stevia a natural part of my diet. I just don't trust it. I feel like it's one of those things that just hasn't bee studied enough for us to know what it does to a person who eats it regularly over the long term. I mean, if you need to avoid sugar for health reasons that's one thing, but for me, I'd rather just watch the amount of refined sugar I ingest that substitute it with some ingredient science really doesn't know all that much about.

No one knows if it's okay to consume regularly. As it stands, the research that has been done on it suggests that it's okay to use in moderation as a substitute for sugar as it is associated with few side effects, but overall research regarding the safety of using this whole-leaf and raw products is lacking. This tells me that its okay to use on occasion but I wouldn't eat it daily.

Ii think Stevia is a good sugar substitute and you don't need a lot. A tiny bit goes a long way. I don't think it's nutritious for you, but if you're gonna eat sugar, I don't see the harm in using stevia instead, if what you're worried about are the calories in refined sugar.

Thanks for the tip. Make sense. I'll use it sparingly. I do like that you only need a little bit of Stevia. It is very sweet. Appreciate all the feedback. :D
