  • 1500 calories

What are some healthy recipes for snacks and meals that taste good, aren't too hard to make and will help to fill me if I want to stick to a 1500 calorie daily diet to loser weight?

Honestly, I find that the very best snacks are vegetables and fruits like apples, carrots, cucumbers, etc. Crunchy snacks with fiber and few calories are great for helping you to curb hunger without packing on the extra weight. I'd also recommend that you up your water intake. You might find that you'll naturally be less hungry when you're hydrated and because water does help to fill up you belly.

Eat meals and snacks that are high in protein and fiber. This will help to fill you up and keep you fuller and energized for longer. Vegetables are also great, as Jan suggested because they are low in calories and help to fill you up.

I would focus on eating meals that are nutrient dense, high in fiber and high in protein. As for snacks, as much as possible. I would try to stick to fruits and vegetables and I also (like Jan) recommend drinking more water, because this will really help control your appetite by making sure you're hydrated and helping to fill you up a bit.

Beyond agreeing with what everyone else has said, I suppose the best way to really know what sort of foods would work for you would depend on your own personal tastes. For instance, if you're someone who likes sweet stuff, fruit would be better, but if you prefer more savory or salty flavors veggie with a low-cal dip may be a better option.

Have you ever thought about joining weight watchers online for free? They can help give you a better idea of how to manage your calories if you want to stick to 1500 per day. They use a point system and no food is off limits. It gives a good idea of how many points certain foods are so you know what to limit and what you can eat more of to stick to your calorie goals.

              Thanks for all the advice.

tracy1976 I have never actually tried weight watchers but I like the idea of the point system you're talking about. If its free and it's easy to follow, I think I might just give that a try. I'm really finding it hard to stick to only 1500 a day.
