Is glucosamine good for weight loss? I've seen it used in several OTC diet supplements for weight loss and I'm wondering what kind of benefit it will provide.

glucosamine is naturally produced by the body but the amounts of glucosamine the body produces declines with age. Glucosamine does help to keep the joints lubricated and taking supplements can help keep them lubricated which can be good for alleviating joint pain and arthritis.

Only if you have joint pain or arthritis. If you're really not sure, the best thing to do is to ask your doctor. I wouldn't just start taking it without first knowing that it could potentially benefit you, personally. That said, if you're doing it for weight loss, just don't bother. There's not evidence that proves it is effective for fat loss or keeps weight off.
