  • Substitute for ice cream

is there a low-cal and low-fat substitute for ice cream? I want a cold and sweet treat but I'm trying to be good about my choices. Would I be able to have sorbet or something like that?

Yeah sorbet isn't too bad. You could also try low-fat forzen yogurt. Probably the most healthiest would be am icey smoothie made from scratch with frozen berries of fresh fruits with ice.

That smoothie idea is a great one Ron. I'm gonna try that for sure. That said, bonniekins, in my experience I've never found there to be a good substitute for ice cream. Nothing quite compares to it. So I would recommend instead of looking for something to replace it, have your ice cream once in a while and simply enjoy another healthier treat. I find any time my brain knows I'm substituting something else for something I really want, I enjoy the alternative treat less.

I would also recommend the icey smoothie that you make from frozen berries. It really is the best thing for you. Otherwise, just have your ice cream in moderation. Remember, you don't have to give up something you love, you just have to eat less of it.

I think I'll try the smoothies. Do you know of how I can make them thick enough that I cane eat them with a spoon instead of feeling like I'm drinking a shake? One of the reasons I like ice cream is because it's more of a solid than a liquid.
