  • Yogurt - yes or no

I keep hearing things that say that yogurt is one of the best things that you can eat for weight loss and health and then other things say that yogurt is a health myth but it is really just something that is bad for you and you may as well just eat pudding or something like that if your’e going to go for all those sugars, fats and calories.

    Is it good or not?

Yes, yogurt is good for you, but only if you choose the right one. If you choose a Balkan or Greek yogurt, and if you pick a plain one, not the flavored kind, then it is extremely rich and healthy. But if you get the kind with the fruit or flavoring in it, then you’re getting too much sugar or artificial flavoring, and both take the healthiness out of the yogurt.

That’s just it. It isn’t that all yogurt is good for you or all yogurt is bad for you. It’s a matter of picking the good for you kind from a lot of types that are high in sugar. Basically, you need it to be plain and made with as few ingredients as possible. Usually that means milk and bacteria will be pretty much the only ingredients. That’s very good for you, for your digestion, and possibly (though I don’t think it’s proved), your weight loss.

If you do want to have berry flavors in your yogurt, then just add the berries, yourself. I find that if I use frozen berries and I nuke them for a bit then they are a bit runnier than fresh berries. They spread throughout the yogurt more so that it doesn’t just taste like plain yogurt with berries in it.

If you just have one of those little servings of fruit yogurt, it may not be the ideal thing for you but it probably won’t hrut anything. Especially if you are having it instead of eating something else that is a lot worse for you like candy or ice cream or chocolate. That sort of thing. Eating a little bit of yogurt, even if it is sweetened and it has sugar, won’t really set back your diet. Just make sure that you take the calories and the sugar into consideration when you choose the rest of the foods for your day.

I think that as long as you eat it within reason and you don’t go by the bucketful, then if you are choosing yogurt instead of some other type of thing that is sweet, you are at least making a better decision even if you arne’t choosing the absolutely perfect choice.

Yogurt, like most things is good in moderation. The healthiest stuff is plain yogurt because it doesn't have any of the added sugar or sweeteners. I personally like it mixed with a bit of hemp granola and fresh berries. However, if you're going to be eating any of the sugary yogurts, then ya, treat them like you would any other dessert like pudding. Have them as a treat. They are still 10 times better than eating a chocolate bar lol
