That's true. They do fill you up quickly at a meal. The only problem I have with them is that the full feeling doens't last. SO you might eat a smaller meal but it doesn't mean that you won't feel like snacking later on.

I find that the full feeling you get from fiber works best if you make sure to eat lots of smaller meals throughout the day. That's the way to take advantage of it best. Just make sure that you don't eat TOO much fiber becuase it does have side effects

Just make sure that you are eating the right fiber in the appropriate quantity and there will actually be positive benefits instead of having to suffer with the negative ones. I try to think of fiber in the same way as I consider most other nutrients. If you watch to make sure your sodium is below a certain level or that you are getting enough calcium, then you will know what is needed to monitor how much fiber you’re eating so that you’re getting the right balance without eating far too little or way too much.

Everything is right in moderation. fiber helps fill you up and stops bloating, but too much has side effects

I have a question about fiber. If you eat really good quality multigrain whole grain fiber in something that doesn't have a lot of sugar - like a very high quality bread - does your body absorb a lot of calories from that? Doesn't a lot of it just pass right on through you?
