  • Trust the advice of good friends

I think one of the best resources is a really good friend or family member who is known for providing you with the truth and with their honest feelings and experiences. I'm not saying that you need to follow their advice or take what they say as fact. However, a second opinion from someone you trust, can help you to make a choice whether to pursue more information from experts. Another good idea is to trust your gut. Often, we tend to know what we need to do, but sometimes we're too afraid to listen to our own subconscious because we don't want to make a healthy change. Just wanted to throw that out there. :)

You're right. Often time a really good friend knows us well enough to give an opinion that's worth thinking about. Those who speak from the heart, and not just from a logical stand point can sometimes be the best people to listen to, because they genuinely care about our health and wellbeing. :)

Exactly, I have a few friends who are very honest with me and who know me well. I'm lucky that they listen and don't impose their own values on me. I know that they care about me and when they bring up concerns it's because they do care. They're not telling me what I should do, but are letting me know that some of my behaviors are concerning them and they care.

That's very true. It's the difference between a friend and a good friend. Someone who knows you, or someone who knows you and who knows your unique needs and preferences and can help you choose what's right for you, not just them. It's a vital kind of support.
