  • Best calorie counters

I am looking for a really good calorie counter so that I can get control over the amount that I’m eating. I’ve found that just giving myself a ballpark idea of what I’m eating isn’t accurate enough and it’s holding me back. I’ve tried a few free online counters that I’ve seen but they’re really bad and their indexes don’t contain a lot of very basic stuff.

I am hoping for something that will include common grocery store items and regular foods like apples, produce, etc. I’m hoping that the measurements will make sense like “1 large apple” or “1 small apple” instead of “apple 50 grams” because I have no idea how much 50 grams of apple is.

Am I asking for too much for free?

I'm personally a fan of sparkpeople. They have a website and an app, so it depends on which device you like, but they work together so if you want to use the app sometimes and the website sometimes, you can do that. I don't find that they're actually a diet, per se, but they do provide a lot of free tools that are handy and I've never seen a better calorie calculator. You can also program it to track your nutrition and a few other things, too, based on the foods you enter.
