What are the best diet tools for weight loss that are actually helpful and/or work?

I'd say a fitness tracking, a tape measure, a calorie tracking app and a scale.

Yeah, probably a fitness tracker that records your steps and calories (maybe your heart rate too if this is important to you). You might find diet pills helpful as well and maybe some exercise equipment. It all depends on you weight loss strategy.

A diet pill that provide you with more energy. Something with a bit of caffeine (not a lot) or if you don't want caffeine then something with b12. I find having energy is the most useful when it comes to losing weight because when you're more active you just tend to feel better and make better choices in my experience.

Why a tape measure? Do you mean so that you can measure your waistline?

Yup, you can measure everything from your waistline to your thighs and arms. It's a good way to figure out how much you've lost in a way that you can see beyond the scale.

This really isn't a tool as much as it's an important thing to do. Have a good social life! This doesn't mean that you need to head out to bars or restaurants every five seconds, but get together with other people. A good idea is to enroll in a fitness class together. Talking with others and getting your mind off the day-to-day is healthy for your mind and can help you stay positive, which is a very important tool for weight loss in my opinion!

That's actually really great advice KellyKatt! Being social and emotionally positive are very important for healthy and long-term weight loss and weight management.
