  • Eat your salads with a spoon

    It takes longer to eat a salad with a spoon. If it takes longer to eat, it will fill you up better, and leave a lot less room for potatoes and bread. so this is a thing I am trying. I am making both vegetable and fruit salads this way.
    Vegetable salads can be any lettuce, greens, carrots, beets, tomatoes, celery, WHATEVER chopped really small...I usually add a teaspoon of seeds, nuts, whatever... lean small bits of chopped chicken, lean beef, etc. can be added or small pieces of cheese. I rarely use any dressing... Fruit salad I do the same way. I chop fresh fruit, apples, pineapple, bananas, I add a teaspoon of nuts, you can add dried fruit, raisins, prunes. The natural sugars from the fruit make it sweet and tasty, cinnamon can also be added for a little flare. You can chop up a small fruit salad for dessert without feeling guilty. If you omit fruits or veggies that get too juicy or turn brown you can put the salad in a baggie and take it with you for lunch. This is good for kids too, full of fiber. The trick is that it must be chopped small enough to eat with a spoon. The ingredients are unlimited, you can chop up whatever you like. Summer really adds zing to the vegetable salad when the fresh produce starts coming in.

        Hello,

        Nice tips tankini but i have some issues in my mind that, salad and vegetables never makes us fat and always good for our appetite so why do we use spoon and all other way to eat salad. I think we should bother about food which contains high fat oriented elements like potato, bred etc.and if we avoid these for our food we can easily maintain our body.
        Salad contains all carbohydrates and protein required for daily body need and that's why more and more we should concentrate on it.

          hi priteshppt, the idea is that if you take LONGER to eat the salad, your body will realize you are full before you go and scarf down the potatoes, bread etc.. It takes the stomach longer to feel full so when you eat too quickly you end up eating way more then you need to

            I think you mean it takes "the brain" longer to realize the stomach is full.
