  • How do I know if I'm losing muscle?

I know one of the biggest concerns when dieting or exercising is that you could lose muscle in addition to fat. How would I know if I'm losing muscle? Are there any signs to watch for?

A body fat analyzer can help you figure out if you are losing fat or muscle. This can be important because it provides you with a point of reference.

I don't really know what BigBobby is talking about Maggie, but I would just recommend that you don't overdo-it with exercise and make sure you're eating a healthy and balanced diet. If you're really not sure if you're doing things correctly and muscle loss is a huge concern of yours, the best person to ask is your doctor.

Haha, no worries Jenny25, I definitely won't overdo it with the exercise, I'm trying to workout regularly but so far I haven't been too successful. I think I was just curious about what to look for if I ever start. lol

A body fat analyzer is an actual device that measures your weight and volume to determine the density of your body. It uses these figures to calculate the percentage of fat in your body. I think that there's a way to do it manually too without an actual device but it's complicated and takes a while.

Honestly, considering these devices aren't the cheapest and they're also not considered to be entirely accurate, if know your percentage of body fat is realllly important to you, you really should just ask your doctor about it. It's honestly the easiest solution.
