I've got a broken leg. How do I prevent losing muscle and keep up with my exercises and weight loss efforts when I'm restricted to what I can do?

Aw, that really sucks KellyKatt. Sorry to hear about your leg. You can do light exercises with the other limbs of your body to prevent muscle loss from occurring there, but as far as your broken leg goes, I don't really think there's much you can do for it until the cast comes off. I imagine you'll need to do some physio therapy to re-build your muscles. Didn't your doctor talk about that with you?

He did talk about the physio, Mike. However, I was hoping that there was something I could do while I'm healing. I hate knowing that I'm letting my muscles go to waste....and I gotta say my skin is sooo itchy under there LOL. *sigh* I guess I'll just have to wait. I'm not trying to set myself back. I just wish time would pass faster.

try to say positive KellyKatt. A broken leg is rough. I've been there. It really is best just to listen to your doctor's advice when it comes to healing your leg. Be sure to keep exercising the rest of your body and then, once the cast comes off, you can start getting strength back in your leg. Right now, if you're concerned about weight gain, really focus on watching what you eat.

I hope your leg is better now KellyKatt. I wouldn't worry too much about muscle loss. Whatever you've lost you will get back. It'll just take a bit of time. Personally I think you should enjoy the excuse to not have to exercise for a while haha.
