  • Calcium - fat binder?

I read somewhere that calcium can help bind to fat in the stomach and prevent some of it from being absorbed by the body. Is this true? If it is, does this mean that calcium supplements would be good for weight loss?

I think that calcium has been studied for weight loss, but I don't think that the studies actually proved that it was beneficial. I think research found that it may bind fat, but it was inconclusive or something. I don't think there is any solid proof that it does that. If if it did, I imagine a lot of OTC diet pills would be including calcium in their formulas so that they could claim it was a fat binder.

calcium isn't a fat binder. There is insufficient evidence that it can bind fat. If you want to take calcium supplements, do so because it's good for your health and your bones. Don't take this for weight loss. It's not going to benefit you in any way that you hope.

I've never heard of calcium being a fat binder. If it actually is beneficial in some way, would it be only supplements, or would you get this benefit from anything containing calcium, like milk other dairy or oranges, etc.?

The funny thing about this is when I think of calcium I think of milk and when I think of milk I think of fat haha. I get that calcium and milk aren't the same thing, but honestly, the last thing I would think is calcium being a fat binder.

okay, so it's not a fat binder. But does anyone know if calcium offers any benefits for weight loss?
