  • Eating at Weddings and Birthday Parties

Saturday was a busy and very social day. First our family attended an outdoor wedding. Instead of wedding cake there were two tables of cheese cake. There were a wide variety of cheese cakes. Yum
Next our family went to a double surprise birthday party. Of course there was more to eat. One birthday cake was chocolate and the other was carrot cake. Yum
Was I eating for nutrition? Was what I was eating supporting my Immune System? The answer was no. So then why was I eating? The answer was Social and for Recreation. Is it okay to eating at social occasions? Can food be recreational? For breakfast today, it is back to solid nutrition that will keep my body healthy and strong. Solid daily nutrition means one can....... ..................... Live Long Live Strong

Social occasions have been my downfall when dieting. I find it soooo hard to go out with a group of friends without having a few drinks and eating some carby foods. I always have the intention not to, and sometimes I manage it, but mostly I break down to some extent. Eating is very recreational for some people I think. It is connected to so many social situations, even if it's just with family. I have noticed that people always seem to gather in the kitchen at house parties I go to. There's a reason for this - that's where the food is and everyone seems to feel more relaxed and at ease with some munchies at hand. Too bad we don't find the same comfort in salad lol :)

Social gatherings have been and always be my sweetest downfall in my journey to weightloss. Darn who could resist the food and the persisting crowd that gives you a thousand reason to forget about your dieting for that special day.

                eating right

I always keep this quote in mind whenever I go to parties and social gatherings serving so many delicious foods... " EAT WHAT YOU SHOULD, NOT WHAT YOU COULD".
hope this can help you too!

It is always a difficult battle for dieters when faced with a wide array of delicious foods on their table. Much harder if you are pressured to eat by the hosts. However, the trick is to put just the right amount of food on your plate and to eat slowly. ultimately, it is all about your own will power to fight the urge to overeat during special occasions.

Believe it or not, this "cheating" can have detrimental out come to your diet efforts. Not only does the spike in insulin cause your body to store fat. You start to justify this type of behavior and over time, when this behavior is compounded, it adds up to no weight loss, or a pudgy belly. The key is consitency.

I agree with you. People who are trying to lose weight should set up a regular Meal Plan in order to make the metabolism work more efficiently. Make eating a part of your lifestyle and that lifestyle must be a healthy one. If you have already gained control over your appetite, you will eventually resist any pressure set upon you especially on events such as weddings or birthdays.

Try to get a smaller plate and put your whole meal into it, that will give an illusion of more foods. Then eat slowly, take your time in eating since weddings are usually long and generous. Do not deprive yourself of wines especially red wines as they are good for the heart. However, take it in moderation. Do not worry about eating, when you have already set up a good dietary regimen, your body will dictate you to eat healthily even at the sight of sugary and delicious meals.

Guys, the food prepared over birthday parties, dinner parties or some other random parties- they're all the same for me. It will take a lot of strength to avoid them. So what I usually do, I find a sit the farthest away from the dinner table and remember my goal. Small portions help a lot, too. Because if I try to restrain myself from having a bit of these sinful dishes, I will crave the more. A few small bites and I'm good to go.

Ah, the Great Party Dilemma. Have little portions at a time. Don't devour the entire platter. One small bite of everything, I think, is enough to satisfy your cravings.
