I’m always hearing about body composition and about muscles vs fat and that sort of thing. How much fat am I supposed to have on my body to be healthy, percentage wise (I’m female) and how do I go about finding all of that out without having to go to a gym? Is there a way for me to do that sort of thing on my own? How do I know if I’m making progress other than just weighing myself?

I've wondered about that, too. I really don't know. You can probably learn that from a personal trainer or someone else in that type of field. Your doctor, too of course.
