  • How to stop muscle loss

I have been trying to get back into losing weight after slacking a little bit over the last couple of months and I am trying ot make sure that I maintain/build muscle as I burn fat. Is there any way to make sure that I continue to burn and build the right things, or is that pretty much the luck of the draw?

The key is to eat lean protein soon after working out, use your muscles in your workouts, and give each muscle group a day of recovery betwen workouts.

Preventing muscle loss is a careful balance of proper eating and exercising right. You need to do cardio AND strength training exercises on a regular basis. So alternate your days, or do 4-5 cardio workouts per week and 2-3 strength training.

Make sure that you always eat something with a good amount of protein in it within 2-3 hours of having done your workout. Don’t wait too long. Your muscles will be recovering and looking for food, and it’s protein that you have to give them. If you exercise first thing in the morning, think about having hard boiled eggs (or poached) for breakfast, for example. Drinking milk (or chocolate mlk if you’re like me and you can’t stand drinking the stuff straight) can also give you a bit of extra boost.

Don’t let your muscles get used to your workout. Keep switching up the types of exercise that you do, and give yourself recovery time.
