  • Will a vacation ruin everything?

I have been really good about my diet and I have been very careful not to stop keeping up with it over several months. I hit a plateau throughout May but I have been consistently losing weight since then. If I go on vacation, I assume that I will likely stop losing weight because I won’t be able to eat the same way and I won’t be able to exercise as much, but will it ruin all of my efforts?

Will I be able to go right back to dieting when I return after just over a week? Will I have to begin from the start and go through all of the plateaus and will it slow down my weight loss because the odds are that I might even gain a pound? I am very nervous about that because I don’t want to ruin everything that I have accomplished until now.

Is there a way to get around a damaging effect?

If you really don't want to set yourself back then all you can do is try to be careful while you're on vacation. Even if you don't stick fully to your diet you'll need to scale back the excess. You also need to move around a bit. Even a brisk walk first thing in the morning. You might even find that you'll feel better if you do and enjoy your vacation more.
