  • A way around hunger?

    I was just wondering if you guys could help me out with ways to get around hunger. I know that I have a huge appetite. It’s really big. I can eat more than just about anyone I know. So even if I make the right food choices, I still end up hungry unless I eat too many calories.

    Are there any tricks that people can suggest to help to get past hunger? I already know about drinking water, but that only goes so far. Anything else?

    I know exactly what you're going through. I have a HUGE appetite. I can fill a dinner plate with food, eat it all, and go back for more.

    The trick to getting your appetite down is to get your body and your habits used to eating less. If you gradually reduce the amount that you eat, and not always try to eat until you're filled up completely, then you will start to find yourself more and more satisfied with less food over time.

    If you have a hard time with this at first, an appetite suppressant can help you to build the habit part without feeling hunger pangs. Then you can ween yourself off the pills

      To me, the best way to get yourself around hunger is not in what you eat, necessarily. Instead, it's how often you eat. Make sure that you never let yourself get starving. Eat before that happens, even if that means that you need to sneak in a light snack every now and again. The thing is that if you let yoruself feel starving, you'll eat WAY more than if you eat when you're just a touch hungry. Learn to pay attention to the way that you react to your hunger levels. It has really helped me to slash back my calories since I started doing this technique.

        high fiber foods are your best friend when you don't want to be hungry. FIll up on vegetables that are very high in fiber and you'll not only fill up but also get rehydrated.

          I suffered from hunger or "false hunger" for years. After stuffing my face I was convinced that I was still hungry. I now know that this was a false, albeit very strong and alarming. In fact I was convinced that unless I went into a food coma after every meal that I had not eaten enough.

          I found that portion control was essential to dieting, without it I would eat mountains of 'healthy options' and still not loose.

          You have to break the cycle & learn not to eat past 'a point' - this can be hard to do over eaters have long since overidden the I'm full signal and charge right on through to 'coma'.

          Change is hard - especially when you are convinced you are really hungry - but it can be done - just need to re-educate the body.

          I empathise though easier said than done!
