  • gym moves at home

I hate the gym but I know it’s one of the fastest ways for me to lose weight. Are there any things that I would do at a gym for weight loss that I can do in a small space (dorm room)?

have you tried learning to do things like squats and using dumbbells for building muscle and strength?

Have you thought about getting a home gym. That could make sure that you're all set with some moves just because you have to use the machine in a certain way.

Sure! You can do all of your floor work at home as long as you can clear an open space that is big enough that you can stretch out your arms and legs without kicking a table or a couch.

You can also do a lot of toning exercises with hand weights. You don't need to own a full set of bar bells. Just get the little hand weights that are the size you need. You can do things with an exercise ball, too. Find a video or website that gives you all of the exercises that you need from squats to curls.

When it comes to your cardio, get a treadmill/exercise bike or just go for a walk. If you have a trail or sidewalk and if you have a good pair of sneakers you have all the gym you need.

If you want to know moves you can do at home, then go to a gym and talk to a physical trainer. Then you can learn the moves with the right supervision to be sure that you're doing them right and when you go home you can replicate what you learned.

It's a good idea to have a floor length mirror so that you can see what you look like while you're doing them. Then you'll be better able to spot your mistakes because sometimes things "feel" right when they're actually not.

Just get a really good video. That way, you can know not only the moves but how to do them and in what order. You'll get a complete workout that way.

If you get a home gym that is really good, like the bowflex, then you should probably get a dvd or something like that with it that will show you how to use it to its full extent. THen you can just do workouts based on the instructions so that you can either target areas or give yourself an overall workout, depending on your goals.

You really don’t have to do specific gym moves. You can just do normal things like dancing, cleaning, or go for a walk or a run!

I like to dance for at least 15min. Also, simple stretches. No gym required.

I like to do that too! I do it while I'm waiting for dinner to cook or I'll do it while I'm watching tv or something else like that. I find that it means I don't have to "schedule" exercises into my day. Dancing around is fun, free and it always puts me in a good mood. Because it's so great, I find that a lot of times I'll keep going for longer than 15 minutes at a time, too. It's easy to keep going for a half hour. I'm sweaty and out of breath but I'm in a great mood and I feel fantastic. I'm glad I'm not the only nutty one haha
