  • Dieting and Exercising together

I find that I can diet or I can exercise, but when I put them together, I have a hard time. When I exercise, I want foods I shouldn’t have. When I diet just right (in a calorie limit), I don’t have the energy to exercise.

What do I do to make them both work together?

You need to choose the right balance of filling foods particularly right after you exercise

For me, it's still possible to exercise while sticking to a lower cal diet but the trick is to eat at the right times. You need to have lots of small meals throughout the day, and eat one of the RIGHT after you're done working out. So right after you've worked out, shower, get dressed, and eat something. That will kill the starving feeling so that your hunger will be more manageable.

good advice, but for me I have to eat even before showering and changing. Just a little something to kill the hunger before it happens.

Avoid eating anything sugary. That will only work against all of your efforts because it's addictive.

Beyond all of these great techniques and tips (that really are good and thank you, they have helped me) you also need to have some determination and willpower. You can't give up. Learn to push yourself and not give in to small discomforts. Remember that there are different degrees of hunger and fatigue. Learn to push through the lower level ones.

I find that when I exercise, I'm less hungry overall, but I am hungry RIGHT after a workout. My trick is to plan ahead and have my healthy meal or snack ready right after my workout so that I don't have to do much to prepare it. That way, I won't give in to eating unhealthy or high cal foods. I just don't have time to give into cravings when I do it that way.
