    Does anyone know why some parts of the body gain weight faster than others (for example the stomach) while others are the last to gain weight and the last to lose it (like your fingers)?

    That seems weird to me, when I'm dieting the same all over, and I'm doing a lot of cardio activities, and not necessarily spot specific ones.

    I think it depends on a lot of different things, Kellykatt. For example:

    - You might work out some muscles more than others so it's easier to lose weight in the areas that you use all the time.

    - You might be genetically predisposed to weight in some zones. For example, some women are pears and others are apples, so while one may gain weight in her bum and thighs, another might get it around her middle.

    - Some areas are retaining water more, not fat. To use your example, while fingers don't gain a lot of weight (though they do gain some), any weight they do gain is compounded by water retention, so stay hydrated to prevent that.

      a lot of it has to do with your body makeup. I know that the first place that I always gain weight is right around the middle. It takes forever for any other part of me to gain weight. It seems to work itself up to my arms and then in my face and neck area after that, but the first place it hits is around the middle.

      I also heard that what you eat can affect where the fat lands, but I don't know if that's true. I think carbs are the ones that affect your middle the most, but, again, I didn't just quote a scientific study or anything right there.

        No matter how much weight I use, I can't seem to get rid of the area on my upper neck where it joins to my head. Its the area that I can see turning into turkey waddle when I get older, if I'm not careful. Does anyone know how to get rid of fat in that zone? I hate the way it looks and I find pictures of me in profile are embarrassing.
