  • obesity and cancer

I’m not one of those people who doesn’t think that heavier people are beautiful. Honestly, women can be beautiful no matter how big they are. Big women who take care of themselves can be more attractive than a skinny girl who doesn’t.

But one thing that I can say is that when I see obese people (myself included) I see someone who is unhealthy, no matter how attractive they might be.

I’ve always known that being overweight means you’re more likely to get heart problems and blood pressure problems or cholesterol, or even diabetes. But what an eye opener when I found out that you can get cancer, too. My closest friend I’ve known forever isn’t even fifty and he got prostate cancer. The doctor says the reason is obesity and stress. Something to think about!

You're right, Ron. There are a lot of health reasons other than just looking good, for losing weight. It's important because the body is not meant to carry that much additional fat, and because of that, it can lead to problems in the way that it functions. This is especially true because it's not just the fat itself but also the lifestyle that causes obesity.

I was guilty of it for a very long time, but I'm gradually turning that around. It's primarily because I'm vain, I can admit that, but a good motivator for me is also my health.
