  • Winter-specific weight loss tips

When it's wintertime, all I want to do is snuggle up under a blanket, watch movies, and eat anything fatty or sugary that I can find. Obviously, that's not exactly great for a weight loss diet. So this winter, I'm determined to break away from bad habits of the past.

I'm looking for guidance in that light. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've already decided that the only sweet treat baked goods that will enter my home are ones for the holidays, and I'm not allowed any more than one (SMALL) one per day. That's my starting point, but I'm a bit lost other than that.

Cuddle up in the blanket with a nice hot cup of tea :) That's what I do. I just used splenda instead of sugar and no fat milk so it's pretty healthy.

Bundle up and walk like you always do. You might even get away with a shorter walk if it's icy or snowy since you'll burn more calories from the struggle. Just be careful!

Winter is no excuse not to exercise. If you wear the right clothing, when you go outside, you'll be ready for whatever the weather has to throw at you. Just think of your parka and snow boots as your exercise equipment!

The fun thing about exercising in the wintertime is that you can act like a kid and get away with it. Build a snowman, build a fort, or have a snowball fight with a friend who is also looking to burn some calories outside.

You'll not only help to keep your weight decreasing, but you'll have a lot of fun, and beat your risk of the winter blues.

Get some good videos so that you can exercise indoors.

Then all you have to do is take it easy with how much you eat, and you can still relax under a snuggly blanket in front of the tv all you want!

I think it's good to take a few days like that. Especially in the winter. It's comforting and speaks to a kind of winter hibernation instinct of some type

Oddly enough, I prefer walking and going outside in the winter as I do in the summer! I think it's because I have a lot more cute/nice winter clothes as I do summer clothes lol. I would always feel so fat in my pair of shorts but I feel fine in my big puffy jacket and jeans and boots. Also there is something about the crisp air of a fall or winter day that I just love. Anyway, yes the key to going outdoors in winter is simply bundling up!

I do too! As long as it's not too slippery outside, I really enjoy walking in the wintertime. I like looking at the holiday lights at night when it's the season, an I like that it's dark early, so that even if I'm wearing my ugliest clothing, nobody will be able to tell LOL I always go with a friend after dark, though, which makes it safer and more fun!

You can actually eat and eat as long as you want while removing those unwanted fats or excess calories. Yes you can. Instead of eating sweets or fatty snacks such as chips, why not replace it with fruits and vegetables. You can have cold cuts of fruits in your bed while watching your favorite show, You can have as much as you can. You have to cut down on the junk calories and boost healthy calories.

Think of winter days as the same as any other days of the year - you still need to eat and you still need to move. Just do it right.

I actually use the cold as a motivator. I dress warmly enough, but only JUST warmly enough. Then, I go out for my walk and I walk SUPER fast because I start off quite cold. It really works! By the end of the walk, I'm really warm. Sometimes to the point that I need to unzip my coat a bit or at least take off my scarf. Once I'm outside, the motivation to get moving is built in when it's that cold out LOL

I agree with you, as long as it means exercising inside the house in the morning. It's coldest in the morning, so if I plan to go outside to exercise, I wait until the afternoon

If you exercise and then head out into the cold, though, I do admit that it wakes you up and makes you feel more energetic throughout the day so that you're more motivated to stick to your diet and exercise again later on (perhaps outside when it's warmer!)

All that being said, I have to say that I'm glad that the warmer weather is moving in and that soon I'll be complaining that it's too hot to exercise outside
