  • Who here works in an office?

The office is my life. Hundreds of people, each with their own food habits. Common eating areas with multiple microwaves chugging along.

Really hard to focus on my own diet. Also hard to do anything that looks out of the ordinary without attracting attention.

I would suggest that you pack healthy snacks for your long day (no lunchbreaks? that's terrible). Some ideas for snacks that may work for you are mini carrots, apple sauce cups, fat-free yogurt cups, beef jerky, small amount of almonds, chopped up vegetables, cut up fruit and low-fat cheese sticks. You could have these at your desk and eat them between calls.

If you don't have time to eat lunch then you should snack throughout the day to keep your blood sugar level, which will help you to curb cravings for carbohydrates. Also, try drinking just water or green tea during the day. Stay away from juices, pop, coffees and other beverages that are full of sugar and empty calories.

Have you tried doing some sitting exercises while you work? For a few tips, check out my blog post Sitting Exercises

I also wrote another post that you may find useful here Workplace Weight Loss Tips

I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes and if you have any other questions.

I sit at my desk all day and do have plenty of breaks, but one thing that takes away my cravings is 1 can of coke. Yes coke is bad for you, but 1 can beside my desk that i sip at throughout the day. i dont get hungry. the sugar keeps me going til i get my main meal at 6 :)

Hey you gotta do whatever works- especially if that one can of 150 calorie coke stops you from eating several hundred calories of god only knows what vending machine garbage. Desk jobs are a real ass spreader that's for sure. I find on the days that I am away from my desk I eat a lot less. It must be the board-em factor for sure. That and procrastination.

Sugarless chewing gum helps when working at a desk job. It keeps the mouth busy and occupied so you are not thinking about the vending machine down the hall or the box of donuts on the receptionist's desk....

I agree as long as you don't have to work on the phones or meet with clients. I find that I drink water for that same effect when I'm meeting with clients or when I have a lot of conference calls to face in a day. If I get sick of that, I'll drink peppermint tea (no sugar).
