I have been craving hot chocolate lately. I want something rich and warm as the temperature cools. Tea just doesnt cut it so that's not a good alternative for me. Any suggestions that won't ruin my weight progress?

What's a good alternative to hot chocolate on a cold day?

Instead of getting the pre-made stuff, use cocoa (shockingly low calories...seriosuly, check it out) at the best quality you can. See if you can get the kind without aluminum in it. Then, just add a tiny bit of sugar into it until it reaches the level you like. Get yourself used to a more bitter, dark chocolate flavor this way and you'll enjoy rich hot chocolate without all the sugar calories. If you want it to be even more rich with some extra nutrients (more calories, but nutrients come with at least), make it with milk or a milk alternative (oat milk and almond milk are GREAT for this, when you use the unsweetened and unflavored ones) instead of water.

KraftyJo , I think if you really want a hot chocolate, go for it. Get a good quality one and have a small amount (use a normal size mug instead of that giant one that takes multiple hot chocolate packets to fill). Make it a rare treat and be careful for the rest of the day in terms of your sugar and calories or whatever else you're watching. Deprivation will never make you feel good, so give yourself the treat, but think of it as just that - a nice little rare treat.
