One of my friends said that a great way to lose weight and avoid snacking is to keep your mouth busy by chewing gum. That sounds a little far-fetched to me. I don't think gum can help you lose weight at all. Am I wrong?

No. I really don't think it can. I guess it can help keep your mouth busy at times when you would normally just snack for not particular reason other than for something to do, but chewing a whole whack of gum is more likely to be problematic for your teeth and cause your more gas than anything else.
