Anyone snow shoe? I'm thinking of getting a pair to use for fun and for exercise to stop myself from being so cooped up during the winter. Where I live, we tend to get heavy snowfall and there are plenty of parks around me so I can definitely use them. What I'm curious about is are they hard or heavy to walk in and are there any good brands I should look into?

Snow shoes is a great idea! They shouldn't be too hard to find and they aren't heavy, The modern ones also shouldn't be too big or bulky. Just make sure you get the right size and you have appropriate footwear to wear with them. I don't mean you need to buy some special snow shoeing boots, just make sure what you do wear on your feet is sturdy, comfortable and warm :) As for brands, I don't really know any good ones, but if you go to a store that sells a bunch of brands (online or local) you can always ask the retailer or look up the different options online to see what other people have to say about them. :)

There's a lot of good brands out there. Just make sure you get the right size and decide whether all you need are the shoes or if you want the complete kit with the walking poles, too. :)

Never though about getting snow shoes, but that is a great idea! I think this year I'm going to look into cross country skiing. I've always wanted to try it and we've already had our first snowfall where I live...

I never even thought about the snow poles. There's definitely a lot of thought that goes into this...and I've been looking at the different brands and I have to say that I am a little surprised at how expensive stuff is. I might consider a second hand pair.
