  • When a dieting buddy lets you down

I have been really trying hard to make sure that I am on top of my game for losing weight and I have been trying to do all of the best tips to stay motivated and effective. One of the things that I’ve done is made sure that I have a dieting buddy so that we can motivate each other. But I’m finding that I’m a lot more into this than my buddy is and I’m not getting the support and drive that I was hoping for and that I really need over time.

    What do I do?

That's a shame! Get a new dieting buddy, get on your current buddy's case, or give yourself some new drive. Promise yourself that you won't let another person stop you from succeeding!

It’s so frustrating when that happens. I really feel for you, treehuggertodd. I have gone through that a few times now. You just need to tell yourself to keep going. When you can, head out and exercise with your buddy or exchange recipes or do what you normally do when the diet is going fine. The rest of the time, find your support elsewhere. Don’t forget about forums like this to kepe you going. You can also find a second dieting buddy or even a third one so that you will always have someone to fall back on. Otherwise, just trust yourself to rise above it. Whenever you feel like you don’t want to keep up your efforts, tell yourself that you don’t want to fail your ultimate diet buddy – you!

Talk to your buddy. Do they know they're letting you down? Set some new rules together. If you can't keep them up together, it's time to get a new buddy.
