I know a lot of people are using Zoom to do live video group chats or to take part in exercises or other digital events, etc. That said, I've been hearing that this platform may be at a security risk. Is this true? If so, how can I protect myself or what other alternative (and more secure) platforms can be used?

I've heard about security issues, too. Personally, I don't trust any of those video chat programs. I even cover the camera on my laptop because I'm too worried it could be hacked LOL. I would recommend limiting your use and maybe create an email you only use for zoom with a dummy name and information so its not linked to anything about you.

Zoom isn't as much of a "security risk" as the media is making it out to be. Don't get me wrong, it's not like ultra safe or anything, but if you're just using it to talk to friends or family it's fine. If you're worried about some stranger watching you if you're doing exercises or something, you can always just shut off your camera and mic so people can't hear or see you.

Okay. This sounds way less terrible than when everyone was freaking out about it. I actually did a bit more research after reading your responses and you're right, for the most part it's okay to use like any other platform. You just need to be careful. It seems that the major security issues are for companies.
