Is gardening beneficial for weight loss in any real way? I don't like gardening at all but my backyard is a mess and I really have to do something about it. I'm looking for some motivation LOL. What are some benefits that I can use to help increase my drive to do what needs to be done?

It can be beneficial if you're actually engaging in physical labor stuff, like raking, or shoveling, etc. Essentially, if you're working up a sweat and it's not just because you're sitting in the sunshine, you're burning calories. That being said, it's about as beneficial for weight loss as doing any other house chore is.

OMG personally I can't stand gardneing LOL. That said, I think Kyra is right. It's really only good for you in a physical way if you are engaging in activities that require you to use your strength and stuff. Otherwise, planting flowers and things is good for your mental state if you enjoy that stuff, but it won't do much in terms of helping you lose those extra pounds.

It's easy to get burned when you're gardening because your focus tends to be more on what you're doing and not the sunshine. Even on days that are cloudy it can still be high in UVs.
