Is endometriosis related to weight gain?

  • #2
I don't think so. Doesn't have that have to do with menstruation and endometrial cells or something? How could having this problem effect your weight?

I don't think so...at least not in an actual fat way. It may make you retain water and feel bloated, which can make you look bigger than you actually are, but I don't think it directly leads to actual fat gain. That's still entirely tied to your diet and your choices.

Okay, so it's more of a bloat thing I guess. Do you know if taking medications to treat it can lead to weight gain, I mean like they can affect your appetite or your energy levels? Stuff like that?

Yes certain symptoms and treatments of this disease can lead to weight gain. The most common causes of it are hormonal imbalances, medications and a hysterectomy. If you do suffer from this and you are gaining weight, Endometriosis could very well be an indirect cause of weight gain.
