  • Heat rash

I've been getting a lot of rashes this summer. I don't think I have allergies, could it be the heat that is doing it? Am I more likely to get it if I'm overweight?

Yes, it could definitely be the heat and you are more likely to get the rash if you've got areas where your skin overlaps so it's locking int heat and moisture, like belly folds, leg folds (particularly around the groin area, etc.). That said, heat rash can occur just about anywhere. Fun!

You are more likely to get it if you have more fat on your body, especially in areas where your skin has folds. Moisture can get trapped in between the folds, which increases the risk of sweat and heat rash, etc.

Oh yeah, being overweight can certainly increase you risk of getting heat rash. As soon as you've got skin folding over on itself, you've now got pockets where moisture can collect. I enjoy eat rash all summer long. As much as possible, try to keep yourself cool and mop up any moisture that collects to prevent the rash from occurring.

I would make sure that you are experiencing heat rash and it's not something else. I thought I was getting heat rash a lot and it turned out that I had eczema. Sometimes, especially with recurring, sudden or ongoing skin conditions, it's better to have them properly diagnosed by a professional so that you can provide the right treatment and learn the best prevention tactics.

I get heat rash a lot too. Does anyone know what the best natural remedies are to treat it? Is there something I can put on to help with the excess moisture to prevent the rash from occurring in the first place?

I would recommend not wearing anything that might be aggravating it. For instance, if a bra band is doing it or a watch strap etc. try to find alternatives to these items or wear them for as least a time as possible. Essentially, keep your skin dry and also don't forget to moisturize your skin. Get a moisturizer that actually absorbs into your skin.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who has to deal with this. I've been doing my best to keep dry and avoid wearing non-irritating stuff and it has helped a bit. I"m a little leery about using lotion though because I'm concerned this will only make the moisture problem worse. I'm just looking forward to when this heat wave ends. Heat rash is a misery!
