I have rosacea on my face. Mostly on my nose and cheeks. It's gotten worse over the years and I get flareups on a regular basis now. It can be really uncomfortable. That said, what I want to know is that does Rosacea have anything to do with weight? I noticed that only since my rosacea has gotten worse over time I've also gained more weight. Is there a connection beyond possible food triggers?

Is my rosacea making me fat?

Um....no? I can't imagine your rosacea has anything to do with your weight, gain at least not directly. I mean certain foods you eat which may cause weight gain could trigger rosacea, or carrying around to much weight may cause you to feel overheated which may flare up your rosacea, but, again, I don't think the two are directly related.

I also don't think that there is a direct link between rosacea and being fat. That would be like saying acne causes weight gain. I've seen both rosacea and acne in people of all shapes and sizes. Maybe it is the foods you are eating that flare up your rosacea that also contribute to weight gain like high-fatty foods, foods with lots of sugar, alcohol, etc. There are tons of foods that contribute to inflammation and weight gain. Maybe talk to your doctor about your concerns?

No. Your rosacea isn't making you fat. Eating too many calories is what makes you fat. If you're gaining weight and you are noticing massive rosacea falreups there is a good chance that both your extra weight and your skin condition is related to the foods you've been eating. That said, rosacea itself does not make you fat. Equally, gaining weight doesn't give you rosacea.
