I posted once but I guess it got lost. I'll try again. I'm a large man, as you can see from my photo, and I NEED to get rid of this weight before it kills me. I'm looking for a workout routine that won't kill me in the process. A friend of mine said I should cut down to 1000 calories a day, but I think that's a bit too low. Any ideas? Thanks!

Welcome Wimberly!!
I agree with you 1000 calories per day is too low for your current weight. I don't know exactly where you should be as I am not an expert, but I really would not go that low as you are likely to feel weak/dizzy and that is NOT a good thing. As for a workout routine start simple- WALK every day. I would say do a half hr walk before breakfast and another after dinner. If a half hr is too long at first try 20 minutes and gradually work your way up. I would go all the way to 45 minutes per walk. Do this and start eating more sensibly (cut the junk food/fast food, reduce read meats, replace with lots of water, lean protein and veggies) and I guarantee the weight will start to come off big time. Also if you are feeling up to it, I just posted a good list of easy exercises that you can do AT HOME and you don't need any experience or any special equipment to do them so that might be a good place for you to start. Here is a link: Easy exercises you can do at home.
