Howdy all! I need to lose a LOT of weight and this seem to be the place to go for help and support. As you can see from my avatar, I am a fluffy guy who need to lose about 200 lbs before it kills me. I can't afford bypass or lapband surgery. I was told by a good friend who was bigger than me to cut down to 1000 cals a day. I'm also looking for an exercise program that won't kill me in the process. I know I'm supposed to eat healthy, but me and my family (Mom and sis) are on a VERY tight budget and most of the time we can't afford the healthy stuff. We usually have to buy hotdogs, frozen burgers, box mac n cheese, etc. Any ideas? Thanks.

Welcome! You've come to the right place for good advice for weight loss. I've only been here for a few weeks but I've learned a lot here and the people are really supportive
To start, I know what it feels like to be on a tight budget. The first thing that does have to go in a diet is the instant meals. The great thing about dieting is that fresh veggies are super cheap. Plus, if you want filling, you can always make a portobello mushroom into a burger, instead of ground beef. You'll trim a lot of calories that way. For flavor, start experimenting with herbs and spices. They pack a real punch! If you like to add chillies for flavor, that's great, too, since they taste good and they speed up your metabolism to burn more calories! Best of luck to you!

If you want to save money and take off a huge amount of your daily calories, stop drinking soda and juice altogether, and drink only water, instead. If you like herbal teas, go for those, but don’t add any sugar or honey. This way, you’ll stay hydrated, keep your calories way down, and feel great!

You can eat just as healthy on a smaller budget. Do tricks like I do to save money. Watch flyers and circulars for sales and stock up. Look for discounts on products that will freeze and then fill your freezer with them. Buy lots of vegetables and a moderate amount of fruit. Veggies are very cheap. Also get the most out of super foods. For example, beets and kale are both dirt cheap and are packed full of nutrients that are great for weight loss.
