I must apologize to one of our newer members, Dentahead, who submitted a cry for help in our old blog and with the shuffling about went unanswered.
The original post is as follows:
"Does anyone know where I can get some help. I am frustrated and at the end of my rope. I have tried everytthing and nothing works for me. I have successfully lost the same hundred pounds over ten times in the last thirty years. I have a problem with food. I need it. It is the eonly thing that makes me feel whole. I am sick about this and dont know what to do. I have come to the conclusion that I need some mental help to beat this. Are there any sites you can go to to talk woth people about this. I have a wonderful partner but hes thin and although he tries real hard he just doesnt get it. I need to talk about this and dont know where to go. I really have tried everything. Right now I am trying tohave the surgery but my insurance company has put some restrictions on it and I have to follow some kind of plan with supervison for six months. Ever since they told me this I havent been able to follow anythign for six minutes. I was down to 340 and feeling real good then I had a small traumatic event and am now up to 380 again. My high is 515 two years ago but I can feel me going right back up. Any thing to do? anyone to talk to? Help"
I would like to begin by thanking you for bravery in sharing your story with us. Food addiction is one of the most difficult addictions to overcome because food is an essential part of life... it's not like you can just stop eating. There are a number of support groups that may be of help. I have heard some very positive things said about Overeaters Anonymous (OA) and you can visit their website here https://www.oa.org
Despite the fact that you may feel like losing that hundred pounds over and over may have been all for nothing, it has obviously made you realize some very important things about yourself. It is a very positive step that you are finally wanting to address your eating behaviors and work on that.
I hope that you will continue to update us on your situation. If you have any diet or weight loss questions, please do post them here and we'll try to help you along. All the best!
