  • They say marriage & divorce can cause weight gain

A new study shows that after marriage, women are likely to pile on the pounds. They also say that after divorce is when MEN pile on the pounds. I really hope I don't gain a bunch of weight after my wedding. I find it strange though that men would gain weight after a divorce. You would think that would be the time to lose the weight.

I think this makes total sense. I mean, if you think about it, brides often crash diet and lose as much weight as possible for their weddings, so it makes sense that they should gain at least a little bit of weight - hopefully not more than they lost! And men might gain weight after a divorce because they don't have a woman to cook so well for them. Take-out will do that haha

      HAHA oh gosh, Suzie!

I guess you're right, though. I wonder if women also gain weight after a divorce, or if it's just the men. I'd imagine if you're feeling blue from going through that and you're on your own for a bit, you wouldn't feel motivated to cook healthy meals for yourself for a stretch, right?

Most women I know would probably use the opportunity of a divorce and stress to lose weight and look their best. Being newly single, I think most would probably want to look amazing to go back out on the dating scene. In regards to cooking, that is where lean cuisine comes in

That was the case for my sister! Right down to the lean cuisine!

I thought she'd be down in the dumps and that she might fall into some bad habits, but instead, she started off with the microwavable meals, then got into going to the gym almost every night just for the social aspect of it. She found herself hooked on exercising, loving the results and now she's a real health nut.

I call her for cooking and health tips now. It used to be the other way around. The only thing she knew how to make "from scratch" (using a mix) was pancakes! Now she can tell me the difference in the iron levels between baby spinach and regular leaf spinach.

Yep I know if I was ever single again I would want to look insanely good. It's easy to get "comfortable" once you have found someone and you know you don't have to go to clubs anymore or first dates anymore, and they get "comfortable" too lol. You basically both get fat and boring together. I have seen it many times among my friends.

That's true! It seems to happen automatically once you're in a long-term relationship. It also doesn't help that you go out to fast food restaurants instead of fancier ones because you're not trying to impress each other anymore LOL

I find even the fancier places have really rich food that are high in calories too. Fancy can be just as bad as fast food. Allbeit at least you can order a salad w/out dressing in a fancy place
