  • Brain cells help to control appetite

I just read about this interesting new weight loss study and wanted to share it with the rest of you. Apparently scientists have found that certain cells located in a specific region of the brain have been found to actually control a person's appetite and weight gain. This discovery could actually be a really good thing for the treatment of obesity. Imagine if they could actually create medicine that targeted those cells!

If you want to read the study for yourselves it's here These Brain Cells Help Control Your Appetite, Weight Gain : HEALTH : Tech Times

    What do you guys think?

Hmmm that is really interesting. If they could find out what actually controls a person's appetite, that could definitely help to prevent unnecessary weight gain and also make it easier for people to lose weight. Hopefully targeting only the one area in the brain may help to decrease the risk of certain side effects as well. Thanks for sharing!

Wait...I'm confused. Don't they already know that its your brain that controls your appetite? Isn't that why drugs like Phentermine, which effects the central nervous system, exist, to help you to feel fuller? How could this new research actually help someone who wants to lose weight?

An interesting study. This research could lead to better obesity treatments if they manage to target the specific region of the brain linked to appetite. That said, it would be nice if they could figure out a way to do this without drugs. Furthermore, I’m also curious about what potential negative side effects taking such drugs would cause. Also, once treatment is complete, how will a person feel? Will they go back to the way they were before?

I find that one of the major issues with treatments today isn’t just the harmful side effects, but also the fact that they only seem to be effective when a person is taking them.

That's true. I'm just hopeful that with this new research they'll be able to develop a more effective (and hopefully safer) treatment for weight loss.
