I'm doing a lot of research into sleep because I know I need more of it and it is somewhat of a resolution for me. The more I read about it, the more I think it is also associated with other struggles like losing weight. It also impacts nutrition. The reason is that new research is showing that sleep has a big impact on the microbiome. Since the microbiome decides nutrition, immune system strength, mental health, and weight control issues, I think that focusing on diet and exercise is shortsighted. Focusing first on sleep should be the way to do it, then that will make any diet and exercise changes far more effective.
