    I'm so disappointed to read this article. I just can't believe that fasting diets have come back into fashion yet again. Won't people ever get that you can't continue that forever and that it's not good for you?

    It makes me really feel bad that people feel that desperate to lose weight that this is what they have to do to themselves. I know what it is to be desperate to lose weight. I've cried over it. I've hated myself. But at the same time, I learned that I have to have the self respect not to do certain things to myself in the name of dieting. Fasting and fad diets are some of them.

    Are you sure that there's not something to the off one day on one day type of dieting? I know that it can't last forever but it helps to lose a lot of weight and controls starvation mode.

      It sounds like a fad diet to me. It might have some merit in that it will let you lose some weight, but that certainly isn't something that you'll be able to keep up over a very long period of time. Nobody can continue to fast every other day forever. So after you're done dieting if you want to keep the weight from coming back then you're still going to have to learn to eat and exercise properly. Otherwise, you'll just be in the same place that you were before.

        I read a thing that said that men diet better when they can eat normally and then fast. It's sort of all or nothing for men.

          I've heard the same thing about men finding dieting to be more successful when they eat normally for a certain number of days but then fast intermittently. I wonder why that is and if men and women should diet differently.

            I don't personally think that a fasting diet is really all that good for you, but if you are dedicated to doiing it and you can get the weight off - and you know how not to let it back on again - then maybe it's better to get the weight off than fail at other diets.
